I am taking a little photo break for the next few weeks while on maternity leave…so maybe I’ll share a story in the meantime so this blog doesn’t go untouched.
I have a confession. Please don’t hate me. I love free stuff. For that, I am a true product of my daddio. I’d be 12 and he’d be telling the waitress I was 6 to get the kid’s discounts. It was awesome. Some of that must have rubbed off because I love me a good deal!
About 7 years ago I was living up in Coeur d’Alene, ID working for an ad agency. One of our coworkers left to work for a company that made acne medication. It was a pretty cool concept that allowed you to dial up the strength that you needed to customize it to your face. I was intrigued. I didn’t have a serious issue or anything but who wouldn’t like better skin? And free stuff?
I heard that they were looking for trial participants and in return, you’d get free product for the duration of the trial. I think I had to submit an application and some photos of my terrible skin to be selected. Well, unfortunately my skin wasn’t bad enough, but I really, really wanted that free product so I took that hard earned graphic design degree and put it to use photoshopping little zits and red skin all over my face. It looked pretty legit. Needless to say, I got the vote!
For months I had to write daily journals of how my skin felt and looked and submit them to the company. I was a fraud. All for free zit cream. I had to send updated photos, each time I’d take a new photo, remove a few zits and send it in. At the very end, I had to send in my before and after photos…WOWWY! What great improvement. I’m here to tell you folks, this ain’t no snake oil smoke and mirrors product! IT REALLY WORKS! See my testimonial below? How can that be wrong?
I wish more than anything that I’d saved those photos to share with you. Maybe you actually wish it more than me, but still, I’m down for a good laugh. I think the company is out of business now. I hope that didn’t have anything to do with me. Well folks, there’s my fun story for now. I’m a bad person. I can’t help who I am.
And now, we are just waiting patiently, scratch that, impatiently for little Isabelle to arrive. I am sure she will be the most photographed munchy ever so you’ll be meeting her soon!
