Lindzee + Javier // Engaged

I met Lindzee a little over 12 years ago. We had both joined the same sorority at UI. The first time that I knew that we were sisters from another mister was about a month in when our freshman class was tasked with coming up with a skit for a fraternity philanthropy. Our house chose to do the “Build me up Buttercup” song from Something About Mary. We all got in our black skirts and white shirts the night of the performance when all of the sudden Lindzee appears with her bangs standing straight up like Cameron Diaz. I loved how she was just able to throw it all out there and have a good time. And for the next 12 years there would be…a few more of these instances…a month. Throughout the years we became better and better friends…heck…we even share a birthday! We loved/love dancing to tv theme songs but for some reason Lindzee managed to keep a HUGE secret from me for about four years in school. Our fifth year we were dancing to a tv theme song when out she comes with TAP SHOES. On the third floor of our apartment complex. It was utterly amazing. I have no idea how she was able to keep this VERY important fact from me, but thankfully these shoes make an appearance every year around Christmas time.

I got her to move to Boise (I pretend to take the credit for that) a few years back. It was such a happy day for me to have one of my favorite people on the planet move so close. I knew our dance routines would really get polished now. About a year and a half ago we were out dancing with some friends when Javier, whom I had worked with on a project, came up and let her know she was pretty fabulous. Business cards (very professional) were exchanged and I really believe that after their first date Lindzee was completely smitten. I don’t think it took her long to know that this was the man she would spend the rest of her life with. She absolutely adores him and he worships her, in the good-not creepy way. It makes me so happy to see her so happy and in the arms of someone who loves her so much. He’s been there for her through a very tough year losing her amazing dad and I know it made it much easier for her having him by her side.

My husband, Lindzee, Javier and I all went to dinner to celebrate our birthday this year at a Japanese steak house. After dinner he gave her a gift, a wrapped iPod touch. This was such an appropriate gift from Javi, a tech junkie. When she turned the iPod over to read the inscription Javi dropped to his knee. I had so many tears pouring out of my eyes as I gasped that the rest was probably a little blurry. I was so touched to be able to be a part of such a special moment and couldn’t be happier that my best friend had found such an amazing guy. Her dog Maverick has even warmed up to him!:)There aren’t two nicer, funnier people on this earth. They just make everyone smile being around them. Lindzee is the most beautiful person inside and out and Javelina is the perfect compliment to that.

I can’t wait for the wedding next year gang. Love you both!

Smile with your eyes, thank you Tyra Banks.

I know, I know. The box.

McKenzie McDonald - These are so wonderful! I would also like to say thank you to both Crissie and Lindzee…you two were the best introduction to college a girl could have! Although I will say that walking into your room the first day at Alpha Phi and seeing multiple Jarjar Binks (sp?) blow up chairs in the room I was supposed to be living in did scare me a little :) Congrats Lindzee and as always, beautiful photos Crissie!

Lindzee and Javier Boise Engagement Session | y a n p h o t o g r a p h y - [...] i was honored to photograph their wedding this past weekend. but, can i tell you a secret? i only got the gig because lindzee’s BFF, crissie mcdowell who is also a photographer (a VERY gifted one)¬† and a friend of mine, couldn’t shoot the wedding as she was the fancy maid of honor. so she was kind enough to point lindzee and javier in my direction.¬† crissie was the girl who shot lindzee and javier’s REAL engagement session, you know, the one with the photo that goes out with the invitations? and you can see crissie’s super rad blog of the session¬† here.
