Jen and Andrew | Rustic Idaho Wedding

I met Jen back in March to talk about her wedding. We sat at Bardenay talking about school, her fiancé, her dog and of course, her wedding. As we were about to leave, the waitress came and asked us if it was a business meeting or a friends meeting. Jen said, “well, it started as business but now we’re friends.” Is she not the sweetest thing ever? I have been looking forward to her wedding ever since then. I knew it would be such a blast. Oh, and they are both Vandals.

Ok…this is hands-down my all-time favorite wedding, except for my own of course.:)My husband and I seriously started going through our list of unmarried friends on the drive home to see if we couldn’t find someone to get married here, exactly like this.

They got married in Grand Jean, ID at the Sawtooth Lodge…just a couple of hours from Boise. Fire season is hot and heavy right now. My husband and I left Boise at about 8am and just missed the 2 hour wait along the river from the fire. We did however, get to drive by LOTS of little fires along the road. The location took our breath away. When we arrived, one of the bridesmaids was drying her hair using a generator outside. Folks, this was rustic. It takes a very low-key/awesome bride to get married without some of the “finer” things, and that’s what I love about Jen.

I hadn’t met Andrew before. My first official meeting was snapping a few pics of him and his boys before the first glance. He couldn’t have been a sweeter guy and as a saw at the first glance, absolutely head over flipping heels for his beautiful bride. I was loving the way that he cared for her and helped her up and down the mountain as I made them climb down to the hot springs. Snake sightings: 1 and thankfully not by me. Tequily bottles down before wedding: 1 and also thankfully not by me. Their wedding party was so nice and welcoming—you can just tell how much the couple means to them.

I love this next set.

One of the bridesmaid’s dried her hair using the generator. LOVED it.

Andrew’s Best Manlady was his sister, Sarah. I thought that was so cute! She was awesome.

To put into perspective how amazing Jen and Andrew are, just under 250 people drove nearly 3 hours from Boise (and much farther I am sure) to camp. I thought that was pretty amazing and could not have dreamt a better way to spend your wedding night. Prior to the wedding Nick and I snapped some pics of people putting up their tents (amusing), LOTS and lots of cowboy boots and of course…a few drinking games. Yes, I said before. It was pretty sweet.:)

The couple’s family catered the wedding with some AMAZING bbq and dutch oven cooking. This stuff was legit. Lamb curry. The end.

The second shooter on the grassy knoll.

This little guy on the right was so cute~ He kept making centerpieces out of wood and flowers. Quite pretty ones too!

Did I mention that I MET Andrew mere hours before? Yet, somehow, while he gave an incredibly touching toast I was sobbing like I did during Marley and Me. I am talking tears on chin. Thankfully I had a camera to hide behind. I used to not be a crier but seriously, this couple was something special.

Last but not least, dance party. Never in my life have I seen a more crowded and active wedding dance floor. Jam packed. There were some fierce dance offs. My vote’s for the guy in the middle.

We don’t ask questions. We’re just the photographer.

Jen and Andrew, thank you so much for bringing Nick and I into your special day and getting to know you guys. We hope you had an amazing honeymoon and best wishes on your new life in Nevada!
