Bro Hymn Tribute

Dear Pennywise,

No correlation really. I liked that song a lot in college, and my brother was in town last week…seems to work. Sadly, John just left to go back to Tucson yesterday but we got to spend 10 fabulous days with him. It was so great. By the end, it felt like he lived with us, in a good way. I wish he did. We tried to make our plea while he was here.

Unfortunately we didn’t get crazy fortunate with the weather. It rained nearly every day. I was mega-bummed about it because I had big plans but he was really into it because it was 110 in Tucson. Rub it in. Whenever the sun broke through we would hit the foothills for a hike with Gustopher, the big brown dog. He also went for a mtn. bike ride with Nick. I don’t think he knew what he was in for.

Onto more important matters…food. The thing that Hardy’s live and breathe for. I mean everyone does, in reality, but we do it with passion. Ummm. Sorry. Before he even came we had a list of restaurants that we wanted to take him to, listed by our visitation date. You can never be too organized around food. We had Flatbread (one of my bi-monthly rituals), Flying Pie, Costa Vida, Eddie’s Hot Dogs, Blue Cow and most importantly, Tucano’s. I ate such obscene amounts of meat, amazing meat, there that I was one bacon wrapped fillet away from vegetarianism. An hour later that feeling fleeted away, thankfully. Then he called me out to cook. He said he wanted me to make 10 of my most favorite dishes to cook/prepare. You ask and you shall receive. Lindzee’s Famous Salad, chocolate chip ice cream, animal cookie ice cream, pork tacos, Reeses chocolate cream pie, fruit pie, chipotle steak sandwiches with mango Sriracha sauce, fig and chevre pizza, margherita pizza, butternut squash ravioli with sage butter sauce, Orange Julius’s and grilled halloumi cheese…to name a few. In the beginning of the week he was so concerned about how much we were eating but by the end, he loosened up and went with it. If you leave here less than 10 lbs heavier than when you came, we didn’t do our job.

In the 4 years that we have owned our tv, I don’t think it has seen 1/10 of the sports that it saw these last 10 days. He also hit up 2 high school friend’s wedding while in town and we also got in a round of golf with his friend Jarod. He may have also finally convinced us to watch Lost. 3 episodes in and I think we are hooked. I think.

White boys can jump.

Awwww….husband and wife, together forever. I lost my pretty pink ball in a ditch on the next hole. We had one failed recovery attempt. I still miss it. How pretty? I don’t even really like pink. As stated before on this blog o’ mine, I love shiny things. I used to steal, yes steal, glitter from church as a middle schooler. Poured it into my pockets and rolled like that. I felt bad for my mom on laundry day. Except not really…what a nice surprise to get a party in your washer.

He was even a good sport letting me play picture person with him.

Alright, time to come back dude.
