Oh heck yes. I don’t know if this is the next big fad or what but I have seen this done on food blogs like 12 times since this morning. I had to give it a whirl. I had some leftover grapefruit from my tarts…see following post…and didn’t want them to go to waste. I love grapefruit but wasn’t totally sold on the warm grapefruit kick sweeping the nation. Ok well, now I am. It was heavenly. Cheap. Sweet. Tart. Gooey. Healthy. Quick.
A couple of years ago I purchased a box of Sugar in the Raw at the grocery store because I thought it looked really rad and rustic, which it did, but have yet to actually find a use for it. Ok, it has rimmed a few cocktail glasses but big whoop. The recipients probably didn’t even notice.
This has to be the easiest dessert EVER to make.
Turn broiler on.
Cut grapefruit in half.
Sprinkle with sugar (I used Sugar in the Raw).
Broil until caramelized and yummy. I placed the fruit right on the rack but you can use a cookie sheet if you prefer.
That’s all she wrote people. Give it a whirl tonight. Grapefruit is definitely in season right now and juicier than ever. What a pity not to spend $.47 and 3 minutes.
